I listened to them all, and none of them makes it into my music library. They are virtually all ethereal, minimal-style remixes that would’ve been better if they were more like their originals.
Actually, IMO the songs on TKOL already sound like if they are electronic remixes of rock songs, so “again” making remixes of em was not that bright an idea in the first place…
Just listened to the stream, it sounds a lot better as a whole I think. I’m still a bit iffy about the Pearson Sound Scavenger remix, but I’m really digging the rest.
I think my favourites are:
5. Feral – Lone/Good Evening – Modeselektor
4. Separator – Four Tet/Bloom – Jamie XX
3. Lotus Flower – SBTRKT
2. Little By Little – Caribou
1. Lotus Flower – Jacques Greene
The Nathan Fake remix is really good too.
remixes are a waste of time…
This will be awesome. It’s been a cool experiment, providing some great remixes6. Some of the RMX’s really show the remixing potential in TKOL. I still prefer TKOL though :)
