Watch Radiohead perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Radiohead performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this evening.  Michael Stipe also made a surprise appearance on the show as Jimmy introduced the band.  The show was actually recorded last Friday.

The entire band did not appear, it was just  Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood performing “Give Up the Ghost” from The King of Limbs.

The band recently appeared on Saturday Night Live and The Colbert Report.

  • This really answered my problem, thank you!

  • Mitch

Sounds like SHITE. Thom Yorke sings off key yet again.

I loved give up the ghost immediately when I first heard Thom’s performance of it on this green party event one or two years back! The looping, the medody….so haunting. It shows once again that a simple song can have it all and that a band like Radiohead gives it their own drive and mark! I love it! They should work on their live versions of Lotus Flower and MMM though. Sometimes it feels like they are still struggeling to bring the new ones on stage. But again, that just makes them more adorable!

  • supmyniggas?

haha i love the look and the follow-up smirk thom and johnny give each other at the end of the performance. they know they fucking nailed it.

I can’t believe how much I love this song now that I have been hearing it live. When I first heard it on the album I liked it but I wasn’t as crazy about it as I am now. Does anyone have any opinions about the nature sounds toward the end of the album track?

    • To be honest, I was a bit bored with this song for some reason before seeing it performed last night. I love the nature sounds at the end of the song and throughout the album. What’s your opinion on the nature sounds?

      • SV

Josh, thanks for replying to my comment! What has got me thinking about the sounds at the end of codex (birds?) and throughout GUTG is the album cover. Ghosts in a forest? I just did not listen to the song very closely until watching Roseland videos and the Late Night performance. This album is much deeper and nuanced than I first thought -

        • Thanks for leaving a comment! I think that’s one thing that is so appealing about the album is the mystery that surrounds it. The artwork with the CD and the Newspaper, the nature sounds on the album, etc. The silence from the band for 7 months after it was released, etc…

One of my favorites from the Album. I never expected to hear such a simple song from them. But it’s really beautiful in that way though. And times vocal dubbing in incredibly pure and just something I am glad to be hearing. It seams like he tends to shift his vocal timing a bit in some of the songs when they play them live. Especially Morning Mr. Magpie (which to be honest, I don’t really like their live version of that. Not yet anyway). But I’ll stop rambling, I have much more to say, but I think it’s apparent to everyone already why it is that I love this song :)

Did you see them play MMM on Colbert report? That might change your mind…

So why was Michael Stipe randomly on Fallon?

      • Austin

Yup I heard it. I like it, but it’s certainly not my favorite, that’s all. And isn’t Michael Stipe one of Radiohead’s greatest friends and influences? I thought I remembered hearing that somewhere. So I think he was just being a cool guy and supporting them as a friend :) I might be wrong.

  • wonderful performance of GUTG. and hell!!! portishead is on wednesday

  • cooldude

humor is not this shows strength. I think it’s more music. Jimmy actually does a good Neil Young impression

  • Damn

Hey Josh… do you know how long the show is supposed to last? One hour…?

  • Damn

The show is really on NBC…? I’m only seeing a lame humorist…

  • Didn’t Chieftan mention this date in one of his tweets in september? Is it possible there will be something special on the show?

  • Ross
