Preview: Thom Yorke interview on how other music influences his work

Here are 2 clips of an upcoming interview with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Ed O’Brien that will air on NPR’s All Things Considered.  They air this Thursday.  In the first clip Thom discusses how other musicians influence his work, and in the second clip they both discuss the release of The King Of Limbs.

  • An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing somewhat evaluation on this. And he the truth is bought me breakfast because I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! However yeah Thnkx for spending the time to debate this, I really feel strongly about it and love studying more on this topic. If possible, as you develop into experience, would you thoughts updating your weblog with more details? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this blog put up!

Can anybody write down what they said? I can understand a lot, but not all, and i’m maximalist about Radiohead related things.

    Thanks in advance! :)

    • Thom talks about how he is constantly absorbing other music and Ed talks about why they didn’t promote The King Of Limbs when it was initially released.

        Thank you for helping! :)

Maybe i was misunderstandable, but i though write it word by word. :D

Can you do that for me please?

        • I will try and do that today, because the full interview airs today. That was just a teaser that they aired. (I will try) It may not be perfect.

ah, Thom was on npr before. If you subscribe to their podcasts (it’s free) you can download any show they’ve done in the past.

  • Damn

Oh yeah! REALLY interesting! I’m looking forward to this for sure!
    Thanks again Josh!

Can’t wait to listen to this interview, it sounded interesting already with the 2 audio clips. I like what Ed said: “you do it with all the right intent for long term”. I know sometimes I’m critical of Radiohead, because they set the bar high, but it’s also unfair for me to expect them to do the right thing, say the right thing every step they take. Sure there’s room to improve, and what’s/who’s not, right? Everyone is a hypocrite (it’s inevitable since it’s can be a confusing world, standards changes thru different time era and our own growth), but I still go for the ones consciously choose not to be, big difference.

Do you have any idea how long the interview will be? sounds like we’ll finally be getting some answers about TKOL :)

    • No, not yet. This sounds like it will be quite an interview! Keep checking back. I will continue to update this as more information becomes available.

    • Segments on ATC are usually 3 – 5 minutes long, so it’s probably going to fit in that time period. Great program, definitely looking forward to it.

Funny how they’ve recently done interviews for my 2 primary news sources: All Things Considered and Colbert.
