Radiohead’s In Rainbows released 4 years ago today

It was exactly 4 years ago today that Radiohead released their 7th studio album In Rainbows.  On 1 October 2007, Jonny Greenwood announced in a brief post on Dead Air Space, “Well, the new album is finished, and it’s coming out in 10 days . . . We’ve called it In Rainbows“.

When the album was released  customers could Pay What You Want, followed by a standard CD release in most countries during the last week of 2007.  Did you pay to download In Rainbows?

  • It was also the day I started my band as well as the day I made my first tutorial. Big day for me.

Didn’t pay for the download, did buy the CD though, and intend to buy the LP at some point in the near future as its one of my favourite Radiohead albums.

Well I was younger and didn’t have a credit card, so I don’t think I payed anything for it…I did buy the cd though eventually. That was around the time I was getting into radiohead…seems like so long ago.

that was the album I played on my ipod basically every morning when I was attending university…It was pretty obsessive…

  • Ross

I did not pay anything for the download, but I bought the In Rainbows vinyl.

It’s just a gatefold cardboard sleeve, with a swirly pattern in the middle when it opens up. Discs are in each side. I was excited to get it after seeing the unboxing of the japanese version! I suppose it’s the same with the actual TKOL cd, no booklet for the rest of the world.

I d/l at the recommendation of a friend of mine even though I wasn’t a fan. I think I paid about $10 for it and fell head-over-heels in love. The love affair continues… <3

This was my first radiohead album that got me into them. I never got to see them on their tour, but I hope to change that soon enough….

I wish I was Radiohead fan 4 years ago, I would have been so excited of In Rainbow’s release and its unique releasing style. But I feel just as lucky Radiohead is still creating, that’s why I was in disbelief when TKoL came out, those moments are unforgettable…..

Have a nice double 10 day!

    • I can remember downloading the second I got home from work that day. I think I paid around $10 or so for the album. I can remember listening to it again and again with my friends.

  • Austin

Wow :p I’ve still been calling “In Rainbows” the new album even after the release of “The King of Limbs”. Its sad to see the time go as quick as it is

  • George

Just picked up the new remix album, I was expecting the booklet that was in the Japanese release, but there’s nothing in it except the two discs :(

Is it the same for the rest? pre-ordered mine some weeks ago, and I was hoping for the booklets.
