Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood debuts Polymorphia tonight
Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood will unveil his 48 Responses to Polymorphia for the first time in the UK tonight.
The work for 48 string instruments, (24 violins and 8 violas, cellos and basses) will be performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra at a special Halloween themed night.
The Disturbia concert at the Southbank in London, will also see audience members being blindfolded as they listen to Luciano Berio’s horrifying electro-acoustic fantasy piece, Visage, which was banned from the airwaves in Italy.
Featuring Friday the 13th composer Harry Manfredini, Adrian Larkin has been finding our more about the influence of classical music on the horror film genre.
You can listen to the whole performance, which will also feature Aphex Twin’s Nannou, live on BBC Radio 3 from 7.30pm tonight (31 October). That’s 2:30pm EST.

Hmmm… Radiohead news has been slow lately.
I know. I think they are on vacation or taking time off before they enter the studio next month.
Why is it that they can manage to get something this avant garde debuting in the UK, but not a proper bloody Radiohead show…?
wait, 48 responses to polymorphia has been played before though…I’m confused.

Yeah but that wasn’t in the UK. This is the debut in the UK.
ah – I see now.
Very very nice! I didn’t think he’d actually do it! We were playing truth or dare and I dared Jonny to unveil his 48 Responses to Polymorphia in the UK. Tom (Yoke) was in hysterics. But then, Jonny started to hang out with a few guys from our local (orchestra) and I guess he managed to find 48 people to take up the challenge.
Hope it’ll be on iplayer so I can catch up!
That’s great, Pil (Seway).
Did you talk over the mobile phone about the projait?
Yeah!
hummm…..
Sorry if I sound stupid. Is this really Phil Selway?
I mean seriously ?
No, its not really him. Sorry for the confusion. He does however have a Facebook page and you can leave him comments there and he often replies.
I notice his page. But u mean the musician page or person page. Couse there are a lot of people pages named after him.
Awesome, can’t wait to hear it.
Berio’s stuff is so scary.
