Radiohead to release ‘The Daily Mail’ and ‘Staircase’ on December 19th
Update: This is now official and the single is already on Amazon.com and will be available on December 19th. These songs are from their Live From The Basement sessions. It’s now available for purchase at http://thekingoflimbs.com/Store/DisplayItems.html
Update: (12-13-2011) The song premiered earlier today on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1. The audio clip is courtesy of We All Want Someone.
And here’s “Staircase”, notice at the end of the clip he says it will be available January 23rd “properly”. I’m guessing that will be a physical release of the single. Perhaps on vinyl?

Are Radiohead are releasing ‘The Daily Mail‘ and ‘Staircase‘ soon? According to Deezer.com (A French music service like Spotify) a single containing both tracks will be released on December 19th. The link is geo blocked, but here’s the image below.
These two songs have been included in most of their live performance so far this year. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
(Thanks Dindaon)

I think this was one of the best years to be a Radiohead fan! :)
Will it be available as FLAC?
Btw: This radio programm says at the end that the tracks are from the FTB sessions:

It said “out properly on January 23rd” so maybe there will be a physical release then?
Josh, really interesting interview from this morning on BBC 6 Music where they played Staircase for the first time, Ed talks about possible EP next year and maybe a UK Summer tour http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/20111214_eob.shtml
Thanks for this George! I added this to the newest post on the site. I think it would be nice to have these songs on vinyl, especially with the album artwork.
Well at least it has been mixed differently :)
I could not be anymore disappointed. From the basement performances r weak at best.
go fuck urself.. ur obviously delusional…
Fuck you pole smoker
KINDA SAD THEY’RE NOT GONNA BE “A” SIDES. THEY TOTALLY DESERVE TO BE IN AN ALBUM
The 2 tracks on Amazon are definitely the FTB performances- possibly a slight difference on Thom’s Staircase vocal.
These will not be free for those who purchased TKOL, the download is on sale at Radiohead’s site for £2.49. There’s no vinyl. It won’t let me order them just now, but that could just be because they’re not taking pre-orders & not due to any free download.
I suppose the only reason to buy these is to have them as WAVs with possible sweetening here or there instead of ripping them from the LPCM track on the DVD.
Will be kind of pointless if the Blu-Ray includes a master audio track, though, which will sound even better.
Can’t believe they actually posted the packages with the Blu-Ray to follow separately- seems really unprofessional. This is when I miss them being signed to a major.
They’ve really milked every last drop from TKOL, haven’t they?
I wouldn’t be so fast to assume theyre not going to be studio versions. I think amazon.com put the FTB tracks in the samples because, well, why not.
I thought that aswell, but maybe it’s just wishful thinking! The FTB performances were spot on though, so I suppose nothing much would be changed in a ‘studio’ version
i thought that too,, but then when u listen to staircase..u can tell the vocals are mixed differently
I hope this is a studio version. Also, I’m waiting a vinyl release of this singles.
I just listened to the FTB staircase, and the amazon preview, the only difference between them is that that single version is slightly clearer, mainly Thom’s vocals, but yeah, I think it is basically the same performance.
If its just the basement tracks then Radiohead are seriously half-assing the fans here. We’ve been listening to these versions for months, I’m sure everyone would prefer an actual studio recording.
It’s now on the King of Limbs official store!
you can play samples of them on amazon, but they’re just the audio from the ‘in the basement’…so, is that all it is?

it’s real
Thanks for the update Zack!
no prob. love the site. where i look first now for all my radiohead news. big fan of the band too, obviously.
The fact that they have the exact same length as the ‘From the basement’ performances just makes me think they’re releasing those as a 2 track single.
so excited if true! thanks for these updates!
Great! I would love to have the The Daily Mail/Staircase vinyl!
I hope in a new album with Staircase and TDM! A new Amnesiac <3
i checked the length of both tracks from From The Basement tracks, they’re both equally long as the single says (3:37 + 4:31), so I guess this is either: 1. False. 2. Promotional single to promote FTB dvd (which is release digitally THAT DAY) or 3. IS the real thing BUT a huge coincidence, regarding the length.
Thanks, great info here!
what is deezer.com by the way?? I’m not familiar with the site..
FYI, deezer is a french website like Spotify.
thank you very much
Right now I’m thinking what are the odds of them making the single a free download for people who bought “TKOL”? They did that with “The Butcher/Supercollider”!
or maybe for people who purchased TKOL from the basement..
please.. dont let this be a cruel joke..
This would be awesome. Would love it love it love it.
