Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich debuted new Atoms For Peace songs at a DJ Set at MoMA PS1′s Warm Up over the weekend.  The group debuted their first single for a track called “Default” last week, with an LP due out in 2013.

well well wellll if it isint little by little bootys! you make such a good job correct mine englisch previosu time, it make me fiel soooo good about myself, i want to ass you to correct me again, you ask

    • Little Boots

Well I won’t correct you because last time I was rude, and I apologize. But I will do my best to help you with the new single :).

Unlike “Morning Mr. Magpie” there isn’t sheet music or tads for this song for two reasons. 1) Its mainly electronic and 2) it just came out.

Here’s a tutorial for some of the electronic parts, I found this interesting.

you do however need a loop pedal, there are no tabs unfortunately, so you’ll have to watch and see what he does.

It does sound like the bottom string is dropped. I believe it is dropped to D. The part he is playing in the verse is the bass line. The bass line deals with slides and mainly whole notes. Timing and rhythm (as for most songs involving Thom Yorke are key)

As for the synth. There isn’t much synth throughout the verses, the verse is mainly electronic quirks and beeps. But the video shows the chords for the synth during the chorus. Remember, you’re dropping D with the guitar, so you’ll have to finger the chords differently. Once you figure out the chords you should be able to transfer them over to a keyboard.

Next the drums. I am not a drummer, so forgive me if this seems odd. The drums play a looped pattern throughout the song, the drums are more than likely electronic. I hear a bass drum and either rim shots or side hits, so play around with it. There is also a shaker and other percussion used throughout, though I believe it is a shaker. That’s the most I can help with drums, just listen for the rhythm and do what sounds right, since the pattern is looped, you should be able to pick up quite easily.

Finally the vocals. He sings the verses with delay, however this may just be some deep reverb. Experiment and see what sounds best. Also he sings falsetto so I’d be careful about pitch. Finally the chorus he goes down to his regular voice. In this uses less reverb and a little delay. Though he is singing louder, but not shouting.

Once again sorry I don’t know too much about this song. This song was made with a laptop, so its hard to decipher most of the tracks piece by piece. The best advice I can give is listen. Listening to what’s going on will make a world of difference. Also I do apologize for my rudeness last time it was uncalled for. I can do my best to help anyone with any songs they need, within reason of course.

I sincerely appreciate your apology and all of your help. I, too, apologize to you for acting like an ass just to make a point.

I wish more people on the internet could act like you in owning up and less like me in rubbing salt on wounds just because there’s no face with the name.

        I bid you all adieu.

      WHERE TO START?

  • Little Boots

I was really surprised, they didn’t play any of the singles, like Default or their remixes.

  • Erich

The third song is actually SBTRKT’s “Right Thing To Do” Ft. Jessie Ware.
