The King Of Limbs promotional photos
Here are some cool promotional photos of The King Of Limbs that I have received.
This photo was taken today in Paris, France by http://twitter.com/S_hade_. This is by far the coolest retail display I have seen for an album possibly ever.
In this photo there are 6 small trees in front of a giant display which has the cover art from The King Of Limbs and a bunch of copies of the CD.
She also took this photo of these flyers she received for The King Of Limbs.
This photo was sent in from James in Melbourne, Australia.
In this picture is an advertisement for The King Of Limbs on the side of a tram.
If you want to add your photo you can email it to me and I will upload them.

Stanley Donwood Tweets and The King Of Limbs Japanese physical copy revealed
It seems as if Stanley Donwood has been giving us a lot of information lately, here is his latest message posted to his Twitter account:
“just decided today to start again on the divided woods print i was doing. a y mark an m dot and a c inconsistency. 100 prints all badbadbad”
Update # 2 Stanley also made a post on his blog today:
“Had a major fail in the studio. The print being produced, Divided Woods, was looking good when we sampled it, and against the wise advice of what is probably the best screenprinting company in the UK, we decided to go ahead and attempt to print an edition of a hundred using four inks and a varnish. This took a while, during which time I was also involved in other, newspaper-related matters. Perhaps it was a lack of attention. Perhaps it was the poor lighting. Perhaps it was tiredness. But. But the entire edition, I have reluctantly and gloomily concluded, is NO GOOD.
Due to inconsistency of the cyan print, a little pinhole of magenta and a really fucking annoying overlooked yellow registration mark, the somewhat depressing fact is… we got to do it again. But I do try to look on the happy side; the studio is no longer so unbelievably cold that it makes you want to shout in pain. Hooray.
Anyway, fuck it. Do it again, better.
Also we have got ten each of the Bad Woods editions that Lazarides printed for the Work on Paper show to sell through the Manufactory. By the way. ”– 6th April 2011
Notice he mentions other Newspaper related matters. We are just 4 weeks away from the Newspaper Edition of The King Of Limbs being shipped, so I am guessing this is not the newspaper he is referring to… Will there be another edition of The Universal Sigh released? Perhaps under a different name?
I was also sent this photo of the physical copy of The King Of Limbs from Japan and it looks as if their version includes a booklet though I am not sure what it contains. I am guessing the lyrics.
Japanese The King Of Limbs release : April 6th
Japanese The Universal Sigh event : April 9th

‘Newspapers Are A Tactile Pleasure’ – Stanley Downwood On Radiohead’s ‘The Universal Sigh’
The following is a blog post by Stanley Donwood appeared on NME.com today. The part that is in bold near the end is quite interesting.
On March 28th and 29th 2011, thousands and thousands of copies of a publication entitled The Universal Sigh were handed out in many major cities around the world. Many people might now be wondering why this happened.
Well me, I got back from London, from Brick Lane, where I and a fellow-conspirator handed out about three thousand free copies of The Universal Sigh outside a record shop called Rough Trade East.
This was the culmination of an idea that had its germination in a seething mass of humanity that I’d been embroiled in at the top of the steps down to Oxford Circus tube station, where amongst the heaving throng of commuters were valiant distributors of London Lite and Metro and the Standard, attempting to hand them out.
The newspaper thing began some months previously, in the summer. I’d left a newspaper on a bench in the sun, and when I returned to get it a few hours later it had already begun its inevitable decay; the paper had rippled slightly, the whiteness was yellowing, and it was feeling more brittle and delicate than it had before. I thought that this constituted a wonderful medium.
There’s nothing archival about a newspaper. It doesn’t pretend to be definitive; just because a newspaper comes out we don’t expect news to stop, or sport to finish. A newspaper is just a simple statement, an account of how things were at the time of writing. Newspapers aren’t even preserved. The vast bulk of them are recycled and turned into more newspapers.
The last packaging that I’d produced for a record was the hefty chunk of cardboard and paper that accompanied ‘In Rainbows’, but something of that kind was entirely inappropriate for this new record, which was very much more a state-of-play document.
After a lengthy concatenation of ideas, the usual meetings, conversations, work, doubt, worry and fear of the unknown, we had produced a large-format 36-page full colour newspaper which was to be presented, along with various other articles with the record ‘The King of Limbs’.
Afterwards, in response to the idea that began in a crush of commuters at Oxford Circus, we made another one. The Universal Sigh was a 12-page tabloid, printed using web-offset lithography on newsprint paper, just like the LA Weekly or London Lite or The Daily Mail. It may have been printed using the same machines that produce these newspapers.

Also, the photographer Sebastian Edge who took the photo of Radiohead standing in the woods send out the following message on his Twitter account: http://twitter.com/sebastianedge
“May be the date. A set”
Will get to see all of the photos that he took next month when the Newspaper Edition arrives? I think we would all like to know a little more about these photos.
And Radiohead drummer Phil Selway sent out an interesting message from his Twitter account: http://twitter.com/philipselway
“Just emerged from a couple of months in the radiohead lair, hence the radio silence recently. I’ve got some UK…http://fb.me/DQWzZfGT“
Phil has some upcoming solo shows in the UK. Though this bit about the “Radiohead Lair” is quite interesting because it appears as if The King Of Limbs was recorded at Drew Barrymore’s house in Los Angeles in January of last year. The photo below was taken at the location and you can tell that because it was taken from an iPhone using the GPS option where it shows the location on the photo. They also thanked Drew Barrymore in the liner notes for The King Of Limbs.
Thanks to inkybrown for finding this photo and the details on where/when it was taken.
And this week both The King Of Limbs and The Universal Sigh will be released in Japan:

Thom posts on Dead Air Space and other updates
In this photo: This is the newest artwork from Stanley Donwood on his website it is saved as “2nd_wood_colour.jpg”
Over the past week or so there were a lot of things that happened, here are just a few things I just wanted to go over.
The Universal sigh was released near the beginning of the week. The physical copy of The King Of Limbs was also released around the same time. Supercollider/ The Butcher was announced as a single to be released on Record Store Day in the UK, and there was a Q&A with Chieftan Mews. Now Chieftan Mews mentioned in his Q&A, when asked about the meaning of IMS MENOO: “As some have discovered….Ims & Ers = Him & Her = He is & She is”, “Moon Theory. HA!”, which makes me think that the band or at least Chieftan Mews might be aware of this website, and have still not denied there being more music. Plus these rumors have been on many other website as well.
Also in Stanley Donwood’s blog yesterday he said “We handed out newspapers, so one secret is out”, so I am wondering how many secrets there might be? I think we will be able to download Supercollider/ The Butcher before too long, not sure if the download will be available before the physical release or not. Keep in mind that the band referred to The King Of Limbs as a record and the Newspaper Edition as an album, and we are around 5 weeks from it being released. And the website for The Universal Sigh states that there will be ‘more stuff but we haven’t thought of it yet’.
Thom Yorke left the following post on Radiohead’s website today:
Japan
for a while I have felt the need to write something for our fans, I am very fond of japan and feel awful seeing what has happened since the earthquake and tsunami…
my friends in Tokyo tell me there are now big powercuts and though the city is still functioning there is a lot of re-evaluating going on. Tokyo the temple to light and power is something different now.
that such a fast paced hyperkinetic place can be brought to it’s knees is shocking even before the worries over radiation from the reactors.
it is hard to imagine how it must feel
to have witnessed such devastation by mother nature and so many dead .. and. I think a lot about the rest of japan and how it will rebuild itself. how much of a struggle and a leap of faith the Japanese will have to make.I’m told that in the rest of japan life is carrying on almost normally but rebuilding what has been lost is going to be a massive job.
I hope that the Japanese people we have met over the years are not freaking out, and I like to think the way japan comes out of this will be an inspiration to us all.Thom

Stanley Donwood Tweets and Chieftan Mews…
So earlier today or late last night or both depending on where you are located you were able to participate in a Q&A session with Chieftan Mews. He did give us the meaning of IMS MENOO as “As some have discovered….Ims & Ers = Him & Her = He is & She is” and shortly after that he tweeted “Moon Theory. HA!”. So, looks as if we can bury that Moon Theory. He did leave without notice, so I think it is possible that he still may return this evening. Congrats to all of the people that had their questions answered. Chieftan Mews also posted a few things on his Facebook account today.
Stanley also sent out 2 messages today from his Twitter account:
“im sorry we couldnt get every city. practicalities and problems. as ever: so much we wanted to do/so much we couldnt. sorry”
And:
“http://bit.ly/ccyqtH also:a state of denmark/derek raymond also:nobrow press also:revenge of the newts/karel capek also:thats it”
Here is an excerpt from his latest blog, notice the part I have made bold where he mentions that ONE secret is out. Are there more?
“I have spent a lot of time looking at photographs of Iceland. Blue water, white land. Drinking wine and considering what to do. Since I last posted anything here on this stupid blog much has occurred, some planned, some unexpected. We gave out the newspapers, so one secret is out. I did a thoughtless interview for a snazzy magazine from Hong Kong, in which I said this:”

I notice he mentions Iceland in his newest blog entry, could “The Wall Of Ice” be released next?
Here is a video I made with most of the recent updates from this week.
Big thanks to Jon for sending me an extra copy that he had of “The Universal Sigh”!
And if you have not purchased the physical copy of The King Of Limbs you can order it from Amazon.com here.
