Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood to Collaborate with DOOM

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood are set to collaborate with DOOM.  The song will be part of a compilation for Lex Records, who will be celebrating the 10 year anniversary.

From Pitchfork:

The compilation is called Complex, and also includes contributions from Gruff Rhys’ and Boom Bip’s Neon Neon project, Boom Bip solo, and Doseone and Fog’s Crook&Flail project, among others. It’ll be made available digitally on a week-by-week, track-by track basis until mid-January, at which point the whole set will be released on picture disc vinyl.

It was reported back in March that Thom Yorke was working with DOOM, so one would assume this is what they were working on.

New Dead Air Space Post: Children’s Radio Foundation

There was a new post on Radiohead’s Official Website Dead Air Space today from Colin Greenwood:

“Radio is everywhere in the country, and it’s a great way to talk to a lot of people from all different situations. It was really great to do an interview. When you get to interview someone, you’re learning from them. And you’re also sharing with it many people on the radio, so we’re all learning.” – Ceswa Mpandamabula, 15, Lusaka

The Children’s Radio Foundation is a UNICEF backed project across Africa that I’ve recently become involved in. It’s very interesting and inspiring to me, because it incorporates some of my passions; new and old media, radio and the internet, and how these technologies can be used to give a continent of young people a voice. There’s more info on their site, and their soundcloud too. Check it out!

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke discusses the influence that R.E.M. had on him.  Back on September 21st R.E.M. announced their breakup after 31 years together.

On Michael Stipes stage presence:

“It was Michael absolutely, the way he dealt with the stage,” Yorke says the day before his Roseland tribute in a Manhattan hotel, drinking tea made white with milk and recalling what he learned from Stipe about fighting the spotlight and taking charge of your stardom. “He would mumble this crap between songs, like he was talking backwards. He wasn’t even attempting to be like, ‘Hey, everybody, how ya doing?’ It was this completely evasive thing. But at no point did you ever get the sense he was running away. Everything was just going into that, onto the stage.”

He also talks about touring with R.E.M. back in 1995, and how Michale Stipe sent him a text message letting him know that R.E.M. were breaking up.
