Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood debuts Polymorphia tonight

Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood will unveil his 48 Responses to Polymorphia for the first time in the UK tonight.

The work for 48 string instruments, (24 violins and 8 violas, cellos and basses) will be performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra at a special Halloween themed night.

The Disturbia concert at the Southbank in London, will also see audience members being blindfolded as they listen to Luciano Berio’s horrifying electro-acoustic fantasy piece, Visage, which was banned from the airwaves in Italy.

Featuring Friday the 13th composer Harry Manfredini, Adrian Larkin has been finding our more about the influence of classical music on the horror film genre.

You can listen to the whole performance, which will also feature Aphex Twin’s Nannou, live on BBC Radio 3 from 7.30pm tonight (31 October).  That’s 2:30pm EST.
